Resetting Palm Viii series handheld
Under normal circumstances, you will not have to use the resetbutton. On rare occasions, however, your handheld may no longer
respond when you press buttons or tap the screen. In this case, you
need to reset your handheld so that it will work again.
Performing a soft reset
A soft reset tells your handheld to stop what it’s doing and start over
again. All records stored in your handheld are retained with a soft
reset.
Tip: The stylus that comes with your handheld has a reset tool
inside. To use the tool, unscrew the top of the stylus.
To perform a soft reset:
n Use the reset tool, or the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar
object without a sharp tip), to gently press the reset button inside
the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
After a soft reset, the Welcome screen appears, followed by the
General Preferences screen (to set time and date).
Performing a hard reset
With a hard reset, all records stored in your handheld are erased. Neverperform a hard reset unless a soft reset does not solve your problem.
After performing a hard reset, you can transfer the data in Palm™
Desktop software to your handheld by performing a HotSync
operation.

default settings.
Preloaded web clipping applications reappear on your handheld.

handheld, so you need to re-install them.
